South Caucasian Railway Calls on Gyumri Residents Not to Dump Household Waste into Gorgoba Riverbed

The South Caucasian Railway has cleaned the Gorgoba riverbed in cooperation with the Gyumri City Municipality. The heavy rains in June and the accumulation of waste in the tunnel under the railway tracks caused flooding in the city’s railway station area and along the tracks.

This channel runs through the city, and residents are throwing household waste here, which has caused a blockage in the tunnel that runs beneath a 17-meter-long railway section. During the cleaning operations, several dozen tons of household waste and sludge were removed from the tunnel using engineering solutions, and the tunnel entrance was equipped with special waste-collecting structures.

The South Caucasian Railway urges Gyumri residents not to litter the Gorgoba riverbed with household waste and to maintain sanitary norms.
