No Relaxation of Restrictions for International Air Transport: Tigran Avinyan

Armenia is discussing the extension of the state of emergency starting August 12, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Emergency Situations Department Tigran Avinyan said after a meeting of the commandant's office.

“It largely depends on what the epidemiological picture will be in the near future,” he stated. Avinyan noted that the commandant's office is developing a plan for managing the pandemic.

“The entire logic of the management plan will be that we must learn to live and work under the conditions of the coronavirus,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

The commandant mentioned that the possibility of reopening several sectors that are still restricted is being discussed.

According to him, the situation regarding international air transport will be different in terms of expected relaxations of restrictions. “Here, our actions mainly aim to prevent the emergence of additional epidemiological risks and to maintain the currently acquired stable, yet fragile situation,” Avinyan stated.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that traveling abroad for tourism purposes will not be possible for the time being. He urged people to organize their vacations within Armenia.
