Court of Appeals Rejects Prosecutor's Appeal Against Release of Mikayel Minasyan
The Court of Appeals of Armenia has rejected the prosecutor's appeal against a first-instance court ruling that denied the detention of Mikayel Minasyan, the former ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See.
This was announced by Mihran Poghosyan, one of Minasyan's attorneys, on his Facebook page. He stated, "We have had numerous opportunities to say that the second application for the detention of Mikayel Minasyan is illegal and unfounded, which was confirmed today by the Court of Appeals. It is obvious that the political authorities of the country cannot tolerate this situation, and shortly there will be a submission to the court for the third application regarding Minasyan's detention, which will be preceded by another 'sensational and resounding revelation' through a press statement and prepared 'comprehensive and objective' reports by public television and 'Liberty Radio.'"
