Court Near Moscow Releases 12 Armenians

In Lyubertsy, a city near Moscow, a court hearing has just concluded regarding the detention of 12 Armenian youths. They were accused of attacking an Azerbaijani café in the city.

According to defense attorney Ruben Kirakosyan, the investigation authorities failed to present any evidence confirming the participation of the Armenian youths in the disturbances.

During the court session, the defense successfully demonstrated that the request for detention was unfounded, and the Armenian youths had no connection to the riots. The court rejected the investigators' detention request and released the Armenian youths immediately.

On July 24, in Lyubertsy, Azerbaijanis had also attempted to attack Armenians but resorted to other provocative measures after encountering resistance. Days later, during the night of the disturbances, the police detained 20 Armenian youths who were patrolling, which caused significant discontent within the Armenian community. In the first court session, 7 individuals had already been released.
