We Can't Continuously Extend the State of Emergency, but on the Other Hand, We Can't Ignore the Epidemic Situation: Prime Minister's Spokesperson

The state of emergency period ends on August 12. It is highly likely that it will not be extended any further. After the meetings of the commandant's office, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that efforts will be made to improve the legislation on emergency situations so that they can have tools to implement certain anti-epidemic policies in the absence of an emergency regime. He remarked, 'We are also discussing that we cannot continuously extend the state of emergency, but on the other hand, we cannot ignore the epidemic situation. Therefore, we will try to arrive at as balanced solutions as possible.'

In an interview with ArmDaily.am, the Prime Minister's spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan mentioned that discussions are taking place in this direction. 'Both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health are currently working on this issue. Efforts are being made to announce what regime and what rules will come into force after August 12. More comprehensive information will be available one day before the end of the state of emergency.'
