Paylan Meets with Istanbul Mayor Regarding Assault on Armenian Citizen by Azerbaijanis
Karö Paylan, an Armenian member of the Turkish Parliament from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party, has met with the Mayor of Istanbul concerning the necessary measures to address the recent attack on an Armenian youth by Azerbaijanis in the Gümüşpala district, reports the weekly newspaper Akoç.
Paylan stated on his Twitter page that urgent actions must be taken to prevent assaults against Armenians. "We must identify the forces behind these attacks," emphasized the Armenian MP.
On July 27, several young Azerbaijanis assaulted an Armenian citizen in Istanbul's Gümüşpala district. The mother of the victim told Akoç that her son had been receiving threats in the days leading up to the incident, while the Azerbaijanis continued to provoke him.
In addition to this incident, two Armenian citizens aged over 50 and a woman working in a shop also faced attacks in the same neighborhood. Paylan has also called for an investigation into the incident, taking into account videos circulating on the internet.
