New Proposal from NSS to Ban Unauthorized Use of Drones at State Border

The National Security Service (NSS) has proposed an amendment to the Law on the State Border. This amendment seeks to prohibit the unauthorized use of drones within the border zone, as well as the photographing of the territory of neighboring states, engineering structures and barriers located within the border zone, buildings, structures, and vehicles used by border guard troops.

The draft amendment to the Law on the State Border has been presented for discussion on the unified website for the publication of legal acts. The justification for the draft notes that the use of photographic and drone equipment in the border zone of Armenia is currently unregulated.

“Moreover, the use of photographic and drone equipment can have a severely negative impact on the security of the Republic of Armenia’s state border, which is why it is advisable to impose certain restrictions on the use of photographic devices, including drones, in the border zone,” states the NSS draft.

The National Security Service aims to regulate the use of photographic and drone equipment in the border zone of the Republic of Armenia with this amendment.
