New Decision by the Chief of Staff: Who Can Be Exempted from Self-Isolation When Entering Armenia

The Chief of Staff and Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan signed a decision on July 27, which amends the Chief of Staff’s decision from March 18, 2020, regarding the "Restrictions Applied at the Entrance to the Republic of Armenia and at the Administrative Borders of the Republic of Armenia."

According to the decision, the following individuals can be exempted from self-isolation:

  1. Foreign delegations arriving for state, official, and working visits,
  2. Representatives of diplomatic missions, consular establishments, and their family members, as well as representatives of international organizations and their family members,
  3. Individuals summoned based on urgent healthcare, military, security, and economic production needs,
  4. Individuals arriving to perform work or provide services as part of state-funded infrastructure projects,
  5. Others based on exceptional grounds with the permission of the Chief of Staff.

In the aforementioned cases, individuals arriving in the Republic of Armenia from abroad have the right to undergo a laboratory examination for the diagnosis of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method within 24 hours of arrival on a paid basis. The data of the aforementioned individuals are entered into the ARMED system with a special note. Following the entry of negative results from laboratory tests into the ARMED system, these individuals are to be immediately exempted from self-isolation. Until the laboratory provides a negative response in the ARMED system, the individual is subject to a self-isolation order.
