Vaccine Trials to be Conducted on 30,000 Uninfected Individuals

The American company Moderna Therapeutics, co-founded and headed by Noubar Afeyan, announced on July 27 that it has moved to the next level of testing its coronavirus vaccine, involving approximately 30,000 uninfected adults.

According to the Russian service of Voice of America, this is the first trial conducted under a government program aimed at accelerating the development, testing, and delivery of COVID-19 treatments and vaccines as quickly as possible.

The U.S. government has allocated around $1 billion for the Moderna Therapeutics program and selected the vaccine developed by the company for large-scale testing among people. The company reported that the main objective of the research is to prevent symptomatic manifestations of the disease.
