Truck Driver Files False Report of 1.5 Million Ruble Theft

On July 24, an operational group from the Sevan police department responded to a call regarding a large truck parked on the 91st kilometer of the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan road. The 38-year-old driver, who resides in Vagharshapat, had reported to the '911' emergency service that 1.5 million rubles had been stolen from his vehicle.

The alert was passed on to the Sevan police department. Upon arriving at the scene, the operational group took a report from him, and Sevan police initiated operational-investigative measures, joined by detectives from the Gegharkunik regional unit.

As a result of their collaborative efforts, it was determined that no theft had occurred at all. The driver had transported goods belonging to another person abroad, where he received payment for delivering the items to their owner. The 38-year-old man spent the money for personal needs and, to avoid any further complications, had rearranged the truck's cabin to create the impression of a theft and subsequently reported it. He has provided a confessional explanation.

The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
