Ararat Governor Calls for Not Dumping Trash in Water Channels
Ararat Governor Garik Sargsyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Recently, a citizen reported the issue of pollution in the canal flowing along the border of the Azatashen and Khachpar communities, drawing the attention of the relevant authorities to this unpleasant sight. The governor's office responded swiftly, and with the assistance and resources of the Yerevan Water Supply Company’s Masis division, the canal was cleaned of accumulated trash on July 6.”
The photos below show how rapidly the canal has filled up with household waste generated by our citizens residing in the surrounding communities in the 10 days following the cleaning.
“We regularly clean the canal with the help and resources of the Yerevan Water Supply Company’s Masis division, but by showing our citizens this image, we urge them not to dump trash in the water channels, as proper waste disposal is conducted once a week in their communities. Before blaming the relevant authorities for witnessing such scenes in the future, let them remember the irresponsible behavior that results in this pile of trash.”
“As for the collapsed bridge, we would like to inform that a project cost estimation document will be prepared soon, and upon its completion and the availability of funding, the construction of the bridge will commence.”
