Protests Continue in Bulgaria as Opposition Demands Resignation of Prime Minister and Government

For the 17th day in a row, protests continue in Bulgaria. Thousands of opposition supporters have gathered again in the capital Sofia, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and the entire government.

Demonstrators accuse the government of corruption and are not calming down even after the Prime Minister announced several government reshuffles. They have thrown tomatoes and toilet paper towards the government building.

Similar protests have also occurred in other cities. The day before, Bulgaria's parliament rejected five attempts by the opposition to pass a vote of no confidence in the government and approved the Prime Minister's plan for government reshuffles.

The protests in the country began after law enforcement conducted a search in the office of President Rumen Radev, who has been supportive of the opposition and critical of the government. In addition to the resignation of the cabinet, the protesters are also calling for new parliamentary elections.
