Let's Learn to Live in a Democratic State: Statement by Constitutional Court Judge Candidate

Vahram Avetisyan, the candidate for the position of a Constitutional Court judge proposed by the Armenian government, has made a statement on his Facebook page:

“Dear friends, relatives, and supporters,
Anyone who knows me is familiar with my professional, moral, and human qualities. I ask you not to participate in Facebook 'wars'; there is no need to prove anything to anyone.

For me, holding a position has never been an end in itself and has not been driven by any group, political, or personal interests. Following my own practice of self-restraining of rights, I adhered to the same principle when accepting the proposal to run for the position of a Constitutional Court judge.

Responding to various media, trolls, and known unknowns is pointless, as the narrow personal, sectarian, and group interests of those who make such statements are evident, along with the professional traits and moral character of the authors of such statements.

In the Republic of Armenia, the individual is the highest value; everyone has the right to create and act freely. The Republic of Armenia is not Ancient Rome, where censors would decide who could do what work. In the Republic of Armenia, discrimination based on personal or social circumstances is prohibited, and no one has the right to monopolize the achievements of democratic values. Let us learn to live in a democratic state,” Avetisyan wrote.
