Azerbaijan's Government Seeks to Divert Public Attention, Says Armenian Ambassador in Argentina

The statement made by Azerbaijan's Defense Minister is unprecedented in terms of irresponsibility throughout the history of nuclear energy. This remark was made by the Armenian ambassador in Argentina.

“The Azerbaijani government wants to divert public attention from internal issues by inciting inter-ethnic hostility. Furthermore, they need to justify the expenditures Azerbaijan has made on defense,” said the ambassador.

Against the backdrop of constant anti-Armenian sentiments stirred by Azerbaijan's leadership, Armenia must be cautious and prepared for dangerous actions against Artsakh or, as has become evident in recent days, against the Republic of Armenia itself. Mkrtumyan noted that no scenario of events can be excluded.

“In particular, he recalled that Azerbaijan's Defense Minister stated that Baku could shell the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant. This is an irresponsible statement that has no precedent in the history of nuclear energy. They do not consider the consequences of such an action, which could spell disaster for the entire region,” he stated.

Regarding Turkey, the ambassador pointed out that there is no precedent in the world where a country that committed genocide openly supports aggression against the same people and declares it publicly.

He emphasized that the co-chairs of the Minsk Group are unequivocally advocates for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. They stress that a solution must be found through the abandonment of force and threats, and in accordance with the principles of the right to self-determination and territorial integrity of peoples.

The ambassador concluded that Azerbaijan is against allowing a people that has lived on its land for several millennia to determine its own fate.
