WRed
New procedures for granting citizenship in Russia have come into effect today, allowing individuals to retain their citizenship of another country when obtaining Russian citizenship. According to RIA Novosti, it is no longer mandatory to have resided in Russia for three years before submitting an application for citizenship.
Additionally, individuals married to Russian citizens will find the process of obtaining Russian citizenship significantly simplified. The media also reports that the previous requirement for dual citizenship—where an applicant for Russian citizenship had to simultaneously submit an application to renounce their first citizenship—has been lifted.
