Fatal Accident in Kotayk: Opel Crashes into Electric Pole, Woman Dead, Husband and Daughter in Critical Condition
On July 23, a tragic car accident occurred in the Kotayk region. At around 11:10 PM, 28-year-old Gevorg B., a resident of Yerevan, lost control of his Opel vehicle on the 5th km of the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway. The car veered off the roadway, crashed into a steel electric pole located in the median, and ended up in the opposite lane.
As a result of the accident, the driver Gevorg B., along with passengers, 26-year-old Veronika S. from Yerevan and their 3-month-old daughter Adelina B., was transferred to the Armenia Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The first responders to the scene included employees of a nearby gas station, Flash, who provided initial assistance, and the emergency medical teams who arrived quickly to transport the injured to the hospital.
The Yerevan Fire and Rescue Department's No. 7 team arrived at the scene with one fire truck. According to reports, the collision caused the electric pole to topple, and rescuers waited for over 1.5 hours for representatives from the Armenian Electric Networks company to arrive for power shutdown so that the rescuers could clear the wreck from the site.
It has been reported that the deceased was the driver's wife, and the child was their daughter.
