The Level of Lake Sevan Decreases
In the third decade of July, the level of Lake Sevan continued to decrease, remaining 3 centimeters lower than the figure recorded on July 22 of the previous year. According to the Armenian Emergency Situations Ministry’s 'Hayhydromet' service, on July 22, 2020, the lake was located at an elevation of 1900 meters and 77 centimeters above sea level, compared to 1900 meters and 80 centimeters on the same day the previous year.
According to the same source, from January 9 to June 22 of this year, 154 million 785 thousand cubic meters of water were transferred to Lake Sevan through the Arpa-Sevan tunnel. During June and July, 75 million 524 thousand cubic meters of water were released from Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes.
