The Armenian-Azerbaijani 'Resolution' War Reaches Its Peak in the U.S. Congress: Suren Sarkisyan

Americanist Suren Sarkisyan writes on his Facebook page: 'The Armenian-Azerbaijani 'resolution' war is reaching its peak in the U.S. Congress. While the Armenian army is strengthening its positions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, a real lobbying war is taking place in Congress to consolidate these positions. Against the backdrop of budget allocations, several resolutions are being brought to the agenda.

At this moment, we have the following situation:

  1. The resolution brought by us, F. Pallone’s resolution (on the publicity of military aid to Azerbaijan) has been adopted.
  2. The resolution brought by J. Speier (on the demining of Artsakh) is set to be voted on in the coming days.
  3. Of the three resolutions brought by the Azerbaijanis, one has been rejected (Cohen’s resolution concerning a ban on aid to Artsakh), the second has been withdrawn by its author (Quellar’s resolution, which indirectly referred to Artsakh), and the third, the most anti-Armenian resolution, has been adopted and sent to the Senate.

I must emphasize the exceptional activity of the Armenian community in calling Congress members and exerting pressure, which has yielded results, as well as the remarkable organizational talent of lobbyists that has been splendidly applied during these days. As you can understand, the war continues on all fronts.'
