No positional retreat occurred under the command of Onik Gasparyan and Grigor Khachaturov, Seyran Ohanyan states

The former Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, has issued a statement.

“Today, an article titled ‘Those positions we have taken were ours’ was published on hraparak.am, which mentioned the name of the distinguished Lieutenant General Norat Ter-Ghrigoryants. It states, ‘…these positions, when I was building the army, were our positions. When Seyran Ohanyan was Minister of Defense, during his time, the Turks took those positions.’

Just recently, I spoke with Norat Ter-Ghrigoryants. He stated that he did not make such a declaration—‘…When Seyran Ohanyan was the Minister of Defense, during his time, the Turks took those positions’—this is an outright falsehood and slander. I demand that the editor of ‘Hraparak’ newspaper, Armine Ohanyan, refute this and subsequently remove the material that does not correspond to reality and contains defamatory content.

During my tenure, Lieutenant General Levon Yeranosyan served as the commander of the 3rd Army Corps, and today the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Onik Gasparyan, and Major General Grigor Khachaturov were in command, and under the leadership of each of them, there was no positional retreat.

You can obtain exact answers to these questions from each of them. You can also ask the community leaders of Tavush and the residents of border villages about the works that were carried out during my administration.

I reaffirm that during my leadership, the border positions of the Republic of Armenia were continuously improved, advanced in inter-position areas, extensively equipped in engineering terms, and reinforced multiple times,” the statement issued by Ohanyan reads.
