Candidates' Issue in Limbo: It Is Stated That Additional Places Will Not Be Opened
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that during a discussion held yesterday in the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, no resolution has been found for the issue of candidates who scored high marks but were left out of higher education institutions.
The discussion included committee members as well as representatives from the State Committee for Education, Science, Culture, and Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, and supervisory bodies. All parliamentarians asked the same question: why did this happen?
Representatives of the ministry explained that the problem is related to the primary application for choosing a specialty, which is why candidates who scored high but did not mention the desired specialty in their first application were not admitted, while those who scored lower but filled out the primary application were admitted.
Parliamentarians requested representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports to propose solutions. In response, they heard that approximately 500 out of the 739 candidates who scored positively and were left out agreed to participate in the second round of the competition for vacant positions in faculties, while the status of the remaining candidates is pending. Ministry representatives clearly stated that it is excluded that additional places will be opened, as the places were allocated according to the quantity specified by the license.
