Armenian Consulate in Los Angeles Issues Statement

The Armenian Consulate General in Los Angeles has strongly condemned the incident provoked by Azerbaijanis in front of the Azerbaijani Consulate on July 21. The consulate released a statement indicating that, based on the sequence of events, it is evident that obstructing the peaceful protest organized by the Armenian community and inciting the demonstrators was pre-planned and directed.

The Armenian Consulate General in Los Angeles has deemed the violence directed against Armenian peaceful protesters unacceptable. It is worth noting that on July 21, the Armenian community in Los Angeles held a peaceful gathering near the Azerbaijani consulate to protest against military aggression instigated by Azerbaijan along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. During the peaceful demonstration, Azerbaijanis intervened and attacked Armenian girls as they were leaving.

To protect the girls, young Armenians retaliated against the Azerbaijanis, leading to a brawl.

In response to the protests and the confrontations between Armenian and Azerbaijani youth, the Mayor of Los Angeles made a statement on Twitter supporting Armenians and stating opposition to the violence exhibited by Azerbaijan.
