Arinj Community Leader Resigns
The head of the Arinj community in Kotayk Province, Gagik Sargsyan, has submitted his resignation to the community council. In accordance with Article 18, Part 1, Clause 14, and Article 26, Part 1, Clause 1 of the Law on Local Self-Government, and based on Gagik Sargsyan's application, the Arinj community council has early terminated his powers as the head of the Arinj community as of July 23, 2020.
During an extraordinary session, the council acknowledged the resignation and, in accordance with the law, approached the Kotayk Region Governor. The governor will appoint an acting head of the community within the established timeframe, in accordance with Articles 26 and 27 of the Law on Local Self-Government, until the extraordinary elections for the head of the community are held.
It is noteworthy that Gagik Sargsyan has been leading the Arinj community since 2002, serving for about 18 years.
