Why Mirzoyan is Delaying the 'Pleasant' Moment: He Assured He Would 'Gladly' Sign the Constitutional Court Bill Upon Deadline Expiration

Yesterday marked the expiration of the 21-day period allotted for Armenian President Armen Sarkissian to sign the law on amendments and additions to the "Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia" act, which was adopted by the National Assembly. This was reported by the newspaper 'Hraparak'.

Sarkissian, as expected, neither signed it nor sent it to the Constitutional Court for determining its constitutionality. It seemed that the Speaker of the National Assembly would not take advantage of the 5-day extension and would announce this bill on the very first day, as only after that would the powers of the three Constitutional Court members—Alvina Gyulumyan, Felix Tovmasyan, and Hrant Nazaryan—cease, but Mirzoyan appears to have decided to play with some nerves and prolong the intrigue as much as possible.

Just a few days ago, in response to our question, he assured that upon the expiration of the deadline, he would 'gladly' sign the bill. Why is the Speaker of the National Assembly delaying the 'pleasant' moment? Perhaps he is trying to emphasize his role in this process or is signaling that it's not such a 'pleasant' process after all. Those around him do not exclude the possibility that Mirzoyan will sign on the last day if he does not receive a 'hint' from Nikol Pashinyan beforehand.
