How Do You Interpret Azerbaijan's Threat to Strike Armenia's Nuclear Power Plant? Paylan to Cavusoglu

Turkey's Armenian member of parliament, Garo Paylan, has submitted a written inquiry to Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlut Cavusoglu, regarding the threatening statements from the Turkish side in connection with the recent tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In his inquiry, Paylan referred to Cavusoglu's readiness to support Azerbaijan in all possible ways during the tense days of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and reminded him that Turkey is a member of the Minsk Group, therefore should maintain neutrality. Paylan noted that instead of upholding neutrality, the overtly supportive statements towards Azerbaijan based on ethnic reasons only heighten the tension.

Paylan has posed the following questions to Turkey's chief diplomat:

1. Are you biased due to ethnic reasons in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan?
2. Have you not yet realized that a racist foreign policy means 'adding fuel to the fire' and only exacerbates issues?
3. Is the Turkish defense industry looking to sell more arms to Azerbaijan? Is this the reason for your escalation?
4. Are you considering sending troops to Azerbaijan?
5. If Turkey is not an ethnically-based state, why does it conduct a foreign policy with ethnonationalist aspirations?
6. Do you occasionally remember that you are a member of the OSCE Minsk Group, which was established to reduce tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan?
7. Have you not yet understood that destabilization in the Caucasus only benefits Russia?
8. How do you comment on the threat from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense that they are prepared to strike the nuclear power plant located at the Turkey-Armenia border?
