Extraordinary Incident in Arinj Village: Gunshots Reported, Stabbing Victims
On July 18, an extraordinary incident occurred in Kotayk Province. According to Shamshyan.com, at approximately 11:30 PM, the operational management center of the Yerevan police received a call reporting a dispute in Arinj village on Mashtots Street.
Twenty minutes later, another call was received indicating that gunshots had been heard on the same street. On July 19, the Central Police Department received information from Hospital Number 1 that two individuals had been admitted with diagnoses of "multiple stab wounds to the chest" and "stab wound to the neck area."
A police operational group, led by the head of the Central Police Department, Arman Papyan, arrived at the hospital. Investigators uncovered that the injured parties were 20-year-old Vardges Balayan from Arinj village and 35-year-old Vardan Khachatryan from Hrazdan city.
Further investigation revealed that the individuals had been transported from in front of house number 44 on Mashtots Street in Arinj village. Central Police subsequently informed the Kotayk Police Department of the details. Shortly thereafter, law enforcement officers from both the Central and Kotayk police departments traced the incident to a dispute over parking, during which the resident of Arinj village, whose details are currently withheld for investigative purposes, stabbed Balayan and Khachatryan with a knife that he had in his possession.
An investigation is being prepared by Investigator Grigoryan from the Abovyan investigative division of the Kotayk regional investigative department of Armenia's Investigative Committee. The police and the investigative unit are conducting necessary operational and investigative joint actions to locate the suspect, as well as the weapon used in the crime, while also determining whether gunshots were indeed fired during the altercation.
