This is an Obvious Act of Terror Against the Civil Population: Tatoyan on Azerbaijan's Statement Regarding the Missile Attack on Armenia's Nuclear Power Plant

This is an evident criminal threat directed at the entire population of the Republic of Armenia. This was stated by Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page, referring to the official statement from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense that Azerbaijani armed forces may target the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Armenia with missile strikes.

“Such a statement is a clear intention to commit a war crime. It could lead to a humanitarian disaster not only for Armenia but for the entire region as well. This threat is an obvious act of terror against the civilian population, which is an absolute violation of international humanitarian law. It undermines the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and shakes the foundations of international public law. Such intentions even disrupt the international human rights and humanitarian protection system,” the Human Rights Defender of Armenia stated.

Tatoyan called on international organizations to pay attention to this declaration aimed at terrorizing the civilian population and undermining the international human rights and humanitarian protection system.
