The Threat to Shell the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant Indicates the Desperation of Azerbaijan's Military-Political Leadership, Says Armenian Foreign Ministry

The threat issued by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense to shell the Metsamor Armenian Nuclear Power Plant reflects the level of desperation and crisis of thought within Azerbaijan's military-political leadership. This statement was made by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

The statement particularly mentions: “The actions threatened by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, especially the First Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions. Such threats are a direct manifestation of state terrorism and express Azerbaijan's genocidal intentions. Moreover, the leadership of Azerbaijan makes such statements as a threat to all peoples of the region, including its own population.

We strongly condemn the nuclear threats voiced by Azerbaijan, which testify to the complete absence of sanity and responsibility from this member of the international community. Azerbaijan must publicly renounce these threats as soon as possible.”

It should be noted that Azerbaijan's military department has threatened Armenia with international nuclear crime through the shelling of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant. This statement was made by Vagif Dargyahly, the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.
