Guys, Bravo! Alexander Lapshin to Armenian Soldiers
Blog writer Alexander Lapshin wrote on his Facebook page: “Today, the media reported that the Armenian armed forces shot down a state-of-the-art and expensive Israeli-made Elbit Hermes 900 drone, valued at up to $30 million. This is a very serious piece of equipment that is present in the arsenals of dozens of countries' armies and can remain airborne for up to thirty hours. I must say that this is not a strike drone; it does not carry weapons. The purpose of this drone is different: to conduct reconnaissance, radar hunting operations, and create obstacles for the enemy’s aviation and ground forces. These drones have been produced since 2009 and have performed excellently. There are about 10-15 of them in Azerbaijan. Now, there is one less. This is, in fact, the first case where equipment of this level has been hit. Until now, no one had managed to do this, even though these devices are constantly used in combat operations occurring in Syria, Iraq, Sudan, and Afghanistan. Furthermore, these drones monitor the borders of the U.S. and Mexico, tracking drug traffickers.
These devices have long been operating in Colombia and Brazil, fighting against insurgents and drug traffickers. So, bravo to the Armenian soldiers. Guys, bravo! I inquired about this incident with my friend, who has been an engineer-designer at Elbit Systems and has worked on assembling this and other drones. He stated that only a complete fool would put such a 'flying brain' at risk. Logically speaking, this is not about stabbing a soldier in Budapest, nor is it about four people drowning a blogger in Baku.”
