Draft Decision by PB and DASH Parties Proposes to Lift Restrictions on Freedom of Assembly

Taking into account the fact that the Armenian government is extending the state of emergency for another month, which is to be discussed at the National Assembly session, a working group formed by the Prosperous Armenia (BHK), the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), and the Homeland party has developed a National Assembly decision to eliminate restrictions on assemblies during the state of emergency. The draft will be introduced by the Prosperous Armenia faction in the National Assembly.

The working group specifically suggests to the political authority in its draft decision to abandon the vicious attempt to silence public critics, to stop the unfounded and total limitation of individuals' constitutional rights to hold gatherings, and instead establish rules for conducting gatherings that would allow preventing the possible spread of the infection without violating individuals' constitutional rights.

It is proposed to set rules for gatherings, according to which individuals will be required to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters from each other and wear masks while holding gatherings.

Simultaneously, it is announced that the Prosperous Armenia, Armenian Revolutionary Federation, and Homeland parties are discussing the issue of eliminating the unreasonable limitations of the state of emergency through administrative courts if these proposals are rejected by the political authority, and the working group is preparing to initiate discussions with business operators and other interested parties.

Statement from the Working Group of the PROSPEROUS ARMENIA, ARMENIAN REVOLUTIONARY FEDERATION, and HOMELAND Parties.
