«Hraparak». The Bright Armenia Party Will Go All the Way Regarding Its Lost Mandate
«Hraparak» newspaper reports that the Bright Armenia Party has decided to go all the way regarding its lost mandate. Yesterday, the party filed a lawsuit with the Administrative Court concerning the decision of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
Recall that the day before, the CEC rejected the LHK's request to restore the group's 18th mandate, which was lost after MP Arman Babajanyan left their ranks. The CEC stated that there are no legal grounds under which any group's mandate can be restored if one of the MPs has left the group but has not resigned from the mandate.
Meanwhile, LHK officials believe that as stipulated by law, currently one third of the mandates of National Assembly deputies do not belong to opposition groups, and restoring this is the CEC’s responsibility. The LHK had three calendar days to appeal the CEC's decision. According to our information, if the Administrative Court also rejects the lawsuit, the LHK will move to the next step and appeal the administrative court’s decision, exhausting all procedures before addressing the Constitutional Court.
