‘Zhoghovurd’: Flood of Complaints at the NSS. Who is Reporting Against Tsarukyan?

‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: On June 22, the National Security Service (NSS) appealed to citizens, and, according to ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper’s information, following this announcement, there has been a flood of complaints submitted by citizens to the law enforcement agency.

The complaints relate to a criminal case initiated against the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, Gagik Tsarukyan, specifically regarding allegations of vote buying during the 2017 parliamentary elections.

“The National Security Service expects to receive public support and urges Armenian citizens with any information regarding this incident to immediately inform the investigating body,” the NSS stated.

Moreover, as per ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper’s information, following this announcement, an unprecedented number of people from all regions have come forward wanting to file complaints regarding the distribution of vote bribes by the Prosperous Armenia party. It gives the impression that citizens are organized in submitting their reports.

Additionally, our sources indicate that these individuals are even naming specific people, which is why former ‘Tsarukyan’ faction deputy Vanik Asatryan was arrested a few days ago. However, this process will not be limited to only this and there could be new revelations and arrests based on the citizens' complaints.

It should be noted that both the giving and the receiving of bribes constitute a crime and must be punished equally; hence, both the alleged bribe givers, in this case, the members of the Prosperous Armenia party, and the receivers, meaning the citizens, must be held accountable.
