Authorities Have Concerns Regarding the ECtHR's Decision on Constitutional Court Judges: What Conclusion Will Ultimately Be Reached? - 'Fact'
'Fact' newspaper has learned that the timeframe for the parliament's recess has not yet been definitively clarified, as the need for the National Assembly may arise at any moment. As is known, the current session has already concluded, but the chain of extraordinary sessions continues, as almost always happens when meetings have been summoned in July.
Specifically, it became known yesterday that an extraordinary session will be convened on July 13, one of the agenda items being to extend the state of emergency for another month. Although there are currently no urgent issues requiring extraordinary solutions on the parliament's agenda, several key issues for the authorities still remain unresolved.
Particularly unclear is the matter of the selection of members of the Constitutional Court. Our source has not ruled out the possibility that this issue may be postponed until autumn and discussed at the opening of the autumn session. The fact is that although Prime Minister Pashinyan has a strong desire to expedite this process, on the other hand, there needs to be at least a rough understanding of what conclusion the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) will provide, which has only rejected the application for interim measures based on the members of the Constitutional Court’s request, while accepting the main claim for proceedings.
