Vahrazdat Karapetyan Has Become Isolated from the Faction: What is the Reason?
According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, on the basis of a decision by the National Assembly Council, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, has taken over the leadership of the Armenia-Iran Friendship Group. Previously, the head of this friendly group was Vahrazdat Karapetyan, a member of the National Assembly's "My Step" faction and chairman of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture, and Environmental Protection.
In addition, a decision was made that Vahrazdat Karapetyan would no longer lead the Armenia-Turkmenistan Friendship Group, which will be headed by fellow faction member Alexander Avetisyan.
According to ArmLur.am's information, this change came as a surprise even to the members of the ruling faction, as many believe that Vahrazdat Karapetyan is a capable and diligent deputy who could perform well in both friendship groups. However, according to the faction members, Vahrazdat Karapetyan has become increasingly isolated from the faction recently, which is why such a decision was made.
ArmLur.am also learned that Vahrazdat Karapetyan had informed the faction leadership months ago that he was busy and could not engage in the activities of these two friendship groups. Taking all this into account, the decision was made to remove Vahrazdat Karapetyan from his committee leadership positions. We attempted to discuss this information with Vahrazdat Karapetyan, but to no avail; his phone was turned off.
