Fact: Does Gagik Harutyunyan Collaborate with the Venice Commission?
The newspaper "Fact" writes: "The most intriguing question in the Armenian reality over the past year, which has yet to receive a final resolution, concerns the changes in the judiciary of Armenia, and more specifically, the ongoing processes surrounding the Constitutional Court, which have effectively created a deep crisis in the Constitutional Court.
In this matter, the authorities present every development occurring on international platforms with a beneficial 'sauce' for themselves, hoping that international partners will lack a clear understanding of the overall picture when making their findings and conclusions, thus depriving them of the opportunity to provide an adequate assessment.
However, it is clear that no international organization operates solely based on one-sided information. Recently, the Venice Commission expressed its authoritative opinion several times regarding the events in Armenia, which, as is known, is one of the key structures overseeing the processes in the judiciary, and despite the Commission providing purely advisory opinions, the views of the Venice Commission are extremely important and foundational in any legal process.
According to the information available to the "Fact" newspaper, Gagik Harutyunyan, the former president of the Constitutional Court, is still cooperating deeply with the Commission regarding the developments surrounding the Constitutional Court and the judiciary of Armenia, and according to our sources, he has quite close relations with the President of the Venice Commission, Gianni Buquicchio."
