Transfers from Artsakh to Armenia: Who is the Newly Appointed Defense Official?
According to the newspaper 'Jiravord', new details have emerged regarding the transfer of officials from the Artsakh Defense Army to the Armenian Ministry of Defense. It is important to recall that 'Jiravord' reported that on June 24, 2019, the President of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan, signed a decree appointing Major General Mikael Hambardzumyan as the Deputy Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army. However, a year later, it was decided to bring Hambardzumyan to the Armenian Ministry of Defense and appoint him as the head of the department.
Now, 'Jiravord' has learned that Mikael Hambardzumyan has been appointed as the Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Department of the Armed Forces of Armenia. Furthermore, we have information that the transfers are not yet complete, as the Deputy for Moral-Psychological Support of the Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Colonel Stepan Gevorgyan, has also been transferred to the Armenian Ministry of Defense.
Moreover, there are additional developments. As is known, on July 4, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a working meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, led by Minister Davit Tonoyan and Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Onik Gasparyan.
According to the information we have received, this meeting was supposed to take place earlier; however, the plans changed due to the dismissal of the Chief of General Staff, Artak Davtyan, and the new meeting was scheduled for July 4. It should also be noted that transfers from Artsakh to Armenia will continue.
