Intense Discussions and Language Clashes in 'My Step': Why the Controversial Mask-Wearing Bill Was Removed from the Parliamentary Agenda

According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', there are intense discussions taking place within the 'My Step' faction in the National Assembly these days. For several days now, internal debates have been ongoing regarding both the proposal to cease teaching the subject 'History of the Church' in schools and the draft law introduced by the 'My Step' faction concerning amendments and changes to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Armenia.

As is known, the proposed draft sets fines for violations of mask-wearing requirements during a state of emergency: 20,000 dram for failing to wear a mask in public open spaces, and 50,000 dram for not wearing a mask in closed spaces, transport, and workplaces. According to our information, their language clashes have escalated to the point that the authorities have even removed the bill from the agenda of today's extraordinary parliamentary session.

It is still unknown what fate awaits the bill in the future. As for the teaching of the 'History of the Church', discussions on this issue are still ongoing, and the draft has also been presented for public discussion,” the newspaper writes.
