New Infection Outbreak in Gyumri: 55 Residents of a Nursing Home Infected, One Dead
A significant number of COVID-19 cases have been reported in a nursing home in Gyumri, with not only the residents but also staff members becoming infected. According to reports, 150 residents and 66 employees were tested, and unfortunately, the test results for 55 of the residents returned positive. This information was confirmed by Leila Aslanyan, acting head of the Health Department of the Shirak Regional Administration.
She stated that 37 individuals have been hospitalized, with three receiving treatment at the infectious diseases hospital in Gyumri, and others being hospitalized in the capital and in Spitak. One person died yesterday in Spitak.
A regional official also mentioned that an isolation ward is being set up in the nursing home, as there are asymptomatic residents who do not require hospitalization; they will remain on-site under supervision. The head of the department also indicated that the residents are registered at the V. Abajyan Family Medicine Center. The director of this medical center has been instructed to compile a list and provide supervision, just as is done for patients receiving home care, applying the same principles to the nursing home residents. Daily information is to be gathered, including temperature checks and examinations as needed.
