Australia Is Isolating Victoria State from the Rest of the Country Due to Coronavirus
Australian authorities are isolating Victoria state from the rest of the country due to a concerning surge in coronavirus infection cases. According to AFP, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the border between Australia’s two most populous states—Victoria and New South Wales—will be closed at midnight on Tuesday, as reported by representatives of both states.
On Monday, Victoria, which has a population of over 6.6 million, recorded a record 127 new cases of coronavirus infection, prompting the plans to open the border with South Australia to be put on hold.
