One of the World's Largest Political Families Will Continue to Closely Monitor Developments in Armenia: Ashotyan
Republican Party Vice President Armen Ashotyan wrote on his Facebook page: "The Centrist Democrat International has issued an urgent statement on its official Twitter page regarding the events occurring around the Constitutional Court in Armenia. The CDI has expressed deep concern, noting that despite the Venice Commission emphasizing that the constitutional amendments do not align with the Commission's opinion, the ruling majority in the Armenian parliament has pushed them forward in an unprecedentedly accelerated manner. This approach raises serious questions about the legitimacy of the changes and is seen as a significant retreat from the rule of law and the independence of the judicial authority in the country.
The CDI calls on the Armenian authorities to refrain from such practices and to revert the process to align with the opinion of the Venice Commission and to act in accordance with European standards and values. One of the world's largest political families will continue to closely monitor developments in Armenia."
