Japanese pharmaceutical company AnGes Inc. has started the country's first clinical trials for a new coronavirus vaccine at Osaka University Hospital on Tuesday. In the first phase, the study is expected to involve 20-30 volunteers from the hospital staff.
For some of the participants, doctors plan to inject a relatively large volume of the vaccine to determine the required dosage.
AnGes Inc. has developed a DNA vaccine based on nucleic acids. Its tests on rats had been successful, and at the end of May, the company announced that the rodents had produced antibodies.
It is noteworthy that currently, at least 10 coronavirus vaccines are being tested worldwide.
