Armenia and Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministers Emphasize Readiness to Continue Remote Communications Next Month

On June 30, a video conference took place between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mammadyarov, with the mediation and participation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stefan Visconti (France), Andrew Schofer (USA), and the personal representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Andrzej Kasprzyk. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

During the video conference, the situation surrounding the peace process under pandemic conditions was discussed. Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized the unacceptability of Azerbaijan's bellicose and destructive statements, noting that they harm the environment for the peace process and hinder the commitment to prepare the peoples for peace.

At the same time, Minister Mnatsakanyan underscored the necessity of ensuring comprehensive security for the people of Artsakh, including through free and safe movement.

The meeting addressed the possibilities of in-person meetings and the co-chairs' regional visit, depending on the developments of the pandemic situation. The readiness to continue remote communications in the coming month was also emphasized.
