It’s Disgusting to See Everything Happening to Gagik Nikolaevich Now, Says Mihran Harutyunyan
Mihran Harutyunyan, the silver medalist in wrestling at the 2016 Olympic Games, has commented on the events surrounding the President of the Armenian National Olympic Committee and leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, on his Instagram page.
"Real competition can push us towards great successes. In addition, we need to be able to separate business, politics, and governance. For example, I do not trust any politician or political party, as they primarily advocate for their own interests, not those of the citizens. The most important thing is that current politicians are not managers. You can see the outcome of governance by such people everywhere; look around and see how the country you live in is doing.
We were all inspired by a new phase in our historic homeland. But what has fundamentally changed in these 2 years? Of course, there have been successes, which is great. But what global reforms do we have in the country? The new phase has given hope that fair competition will begin in our country, according to new rules that will be understandable to most people and will provide transparency to all processes. But what do we have now? Chaotic, targeted actions against specific individuals. Where is the live competition that everyone used to talk about? There are courts and law enforcement bodies; let them deal with illegalities if they are present. That is their job.
Cheap populism will undermine all good intentions. And then yesterday's hero will become the main enemy. Build a new Armenia, but with common and understandable rules for everyone. Instead of using force against opponents, learn to work with them. This is what has not happened throughout this time. I hope that reason will prevail, and everyone will focus on their own affairs. Earn money, engage in politics, conduct judicial processes, lead the country. It’s disgusting to see everything happening to Gagik Nikolaevich now. This is the selfish and cowardly behavior of his opponents. As I mentioned in my post, there is a court and laws for everything. If someone violates the law, they will be punished. But when laws are manipulated for personal purposes, for intimidation and vendettas, such people have no place in governing the country. I hope that the truth will prevail, and Gagik Nikolaevich will further develop various sectors and sports, considering that there is still much work to be done, and, most importantly, the prospects for our Armenian nation," Harutyunyan wrote on his Instagram page.
