Video Circulating Claims Azerbaijani Citizens are Roaming in Yerevan, NSS Reports
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia continues to uncover false information published and disseminated by fake users that harm the security of the state, society, and individuals, fulfilling its functions and powers in the field of information security as mandated by Armenian legislation. This was reported by the NSS press service.
Specifically, on May 21 of this year, a video was circulated by a user identified as "Alex" with the Ukrainian phone number +380963496856 on the mobile application "WhatsApp," and on the social networking site "YouTube" under the account "Armen Tigranian." The video claims to show Azerbaijani citizens roaming freely in Yerevan, who are said to have remained there due to the coronavirus and are filming, while the special services of Armenia are allegedly inactive.
As a result of operational-investigative measures and analyses, it was discovered that the circulated video is a product of editing, accompanied by a pre-prepared audio recording. It was also found that the subscriber with the aforementioned Ukrainian phone number had registered a group on the "WhatsApp" application, which included several dozen Armenian phone numbers, and simultaneously sent the video to them.
This fact once again confirms that the Azerbaijani side is trying to falsely and amateurishly boost the "combat spirit" of the Azerbaijani people, who are in a state of crisis. The citizens of the Republic of Armenia are urged once again to be vigilant in their communications on mobile applications and social media, to exercise caution and prudence, not to panic, and not to disseminate such videos. They are also encouraged to report the users who send such videos to the NSS of the Republic of Armenia.
