Tsarukyan Confirms His Readiness to Go Until the End
The Prosperous Armenia Party has issued a statement regarding the adoption of a draft amendment to the Constitution.
"Dear compatriots, today the 'My Step' faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted a draft amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, which evidently contradicts Article 169 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, as well as Article 86 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, which explicitly stipulates that a draft amendment to the Constitution must be submitted to the Constitutional Court after being adopted in the first reading to determine the conformity of the proposed amendments with the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.
The parliamentary faction of the Prosperous Armenia Party, using the authority established by point 2 of Article 169 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, is initiating a signature collection by one-fifth of the members of parliament to address the Constitutional Court regarding the constitutionality of the decision adopted by the parliament today. We appeal to our colleagues from the 'Bright Armenia' party to join this initiative to protect legal security in our country and to prevent the collapse of constitutional order," the statement reads.
