The Bail Measure is Related to Tsarukyan's Age, Says Alen Simonian

The bail measure, in my assumptions, is related to Mr. Tsarukyan's age and the presence of coronavirus in Armenia. This was stated by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian, responding to a question about the decision not to detain the leader of the Prosperous Armenia faction, Gagik Tsarukyan.

“The court recognized the charges as justified. The bail measure, in my assumptions, is related to Mr. Tsarukyan's age and the presence of coronavirus in Armenia. Perhaps these were reasons for the judge to choose a measure that is not connected to depriving a person of their freedom. This is something we need to talk about and document, because many of our citizens have the impression that the criminal case, which led to discussions and decisions in the National Assembly, was dismissed by the court regarding Mr. Tsarukyan,” noted Alen Simonian.
