Is It a Great Privilege to Try to Save My Life and Health? Alan Simonyan Travels with Police Escort
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alan Simonyan has been traveling with a police escort for the past month. He stated this during a conversation with journalists after a meeting of the ‘My Step’ faction today.
“I have a police officer with me as well; he has been accompanying me for a month now,” he noted, also referring to the strengthening of the security measures for the Prime Minister of Armenia.
Simonyan mentioned that he requested police protection after receiving threats of a personal and physical reprisal, based on advice from friends and relatives. The Deputy Speaker did not elaborate on the specific incident that led to this necessity, stating that journalists are already well aware of these matters.
“Is it a great privilege to try to save my life and health?” Simonyan concluded his remarks, responding to journalists who reminded him that there is no state protection provided for members of the National Assembly and questioning what privilege he is benefiting from.
