The Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Has No Military Solution: Call from the Co-Chairs of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly
The co-chairs of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly have called for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through peaceful and diplomatic means.
According to Armenpress, this was stated in a letter from the co-chairs of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly addressed to the leaders of European institutions, the leaders of the 27 EU member states or governments, and the heads of the six Eastern Partnership countries.
"We urge both sides of the conflict, for the benefit of all their citizens, to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which has no military solution through the resumption of military actions," the statement reads.
The co-chairs emphasize resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by strengthening trust and dialogue and resuming permanent negotiations.
"We reaffirm our full support for the mediation efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, including at the level of heads of state, which are based on the fundamental principles of the OSCE in accordance with the Helsinki Final Act," the letter indicates.
The authors of the letter stressed the necessity of making significant efforts, primarily by the EU, to achieve some progress in overcoming security challenges that would protect the lives of people in the immediate vicinity of the EU.
