My sister and I want to mortgage our apartments: Young Kocharyan on his father's bail
The Appeal Court released the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, on June 19, for a bail of 2 billion drams. Levon Kocharyan, the younger son of Kocharyan, informed Hraparak.am that they are now busy arranging the bail payment.
Below are excerpts from the interview:
- Where is your father now?
- He is still in the hospital, in the same condition, until the bail amount has been deposited into the respective account.
- Mr. Kocharyan, is 2 billion drams a large amount for you?
- Of course, it is a significant amount. I believe 2 billion drams is a considerable sum for everyone, including us. What our lawyers presented in court, my sister and I want to mortgage our apartments in the bank; we are currently in that process to receive some funds to pay that amount. In addition, as the office announced, yesterday, within just a few hours, many people called, expressed their willingness, and now that process is ongoing.
- Are these people from Armenia?
- Not only.
- So, your family does not currently have the 2 billion drams in cash, or do you have it but your accounts are under arrest, as your father stated?
- No, if we had the cash, we would certainly solve that issue.
- And if your accounts were not under arrest, would you still not be able to pay this bail?
- Now, you know, I’d have difficulty saying, but it would definitely be much easier. You know, my father has said several times that he has been working for a company in Russia for ten years, and there is now some money in his account.
The continuation will be in tomorrow's issue of the "Hraparak" newspaper.
