From July 1, child care benefits for children under 2 will increase from 18,000 to 26,500 drams
Starting from July 1, 2020, the amount of the child care benefit for children under the age of 2 will be increased from 18,000 drams to 26,500 drams. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Zaruhi Batoyan, on her Facebook page.
“Parents living in rural areas who are not employed will also receive child care benefits for children born after July 1, 2020. Thus, the benefit amount for citizens receiving child care benefits in urban areas will be 26,500 drams. The same amount will apply to beneficiaries in rural areas who have children under the age of 2 and are not employed. For working parents in rural areas with children under 2, the benefit amount will be 53,000 drams.
Furthermore, the requirement for the parent to be in Armenia in order to receive benefits has been removed. This means that if a parent is absent from the country, their right to receive benefits or the payment of the benefit will not be suspended.
The process for assigning the one-time birth allowance has also been simplified. When a child is registered in a foreign country, no certificate stating that benefits have not been assigned in that country will be required for the parent who is an Armenian citizen to receive benefits.
If the parent has not applied for the assigned one-time birth allowance within 12 months and it has been returned to the state budget, the amount of the allowance may be received by re-applying within three subsequent years.
