Armenian Prime Minister Declines Moscow Visit Due to Pandemic Situation

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a letter to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, according to the government's press service. The letter states:

“Dear Mr. President,

I regret to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. As you know, I had eagerly accepted your invitation to attend the solemn ceremonies. However, as has become clear, the current pandemic situation does not allow me to undertake this journey. Therefore, I have decided to refrain from my visit to Moscow, which, as you are aware, has been thoroughly discussed and coordinated between our offices.

It would have been a great honor for me to be present at the anniversary parade. I am confident that millions of citizens from our countries will follow this solemn event, mentally traveling back to the distant year of 1945, when our ancestors marched proudly through Red Square. The victory in the Great Patriotic War is our shared heritage. This memory unites our peoples and creates a solid foundation for the friendship of future generations.

I look forward to our upcoming meeting, which will provide an opportunity to discuss issues on the agenda of the allied relations between our countries.

Accept, Mr. President, my best wishes for good health and success in your endeavors.”
